About Us
SOJOURN {ess}
An empowered, curious female who dares to step out of her comfort zone in search of meaningful experience & human connection.

Go Solo. Together.
Our motto reflects what makes Sojourness different: we travel as a group, but each woman has the space to move through the world in her own way. There’s no hand-holding here - our aim is to motivate women to explore with confidence. And for those planning a solo trip, it means you can forge your own adventure while still having experienced support behind you. Whether you’re exploring with others or heading out on your own, you’ll have independence when you need it, guidance when you want it, and the freedom to follow your own curiosities. Our community, your adventure.
Active Travel, on Your Terms
We believe the best way to experience a new place is to get your boots on the ground and start walking. So get ready to move—on foot, at your own pace, through streets, trails, and towns, spending time in the daily life of the place you’re visiting. Expect easy to moderate walking, pauses to savor local food, and moments to connect with the people and places around you.
Move Slow, See More
Travel slows down when you slow down. Taking the time to walk, linger, and notice transforms a trip into an experience — one that feels real rather than rushed. That’s why our journeys are rooted in local economies and community: we choose locally owned stays, small businesses (especially women-owned ones!) and experiences that let you connect with a culture on your own terms. Moving at your own pace gives you space to observe, reflect, and engage, turning every step into a meaningful part of your adventure.

We Focus On Responsible, Slow Travel
We travel as thoughtful guests in someone else’s home, and aim to leave a positive impact wherever we go. Our approach combines slow travel, cultural immersion, and support for local communities, whether you’re joining a group trip or planning your own solo adventure. We do this by:
- Traveling at a thoughtful pace. Slow travel lets you spend more time noticing the people, places, and everyday rhythms of a destination, and encourages meaningful connections rather than rushing from sight to sight. Traveling to well-known areas during off-peak or shoulder seasons also helps to avoid overcrowding, and is something you may see in our itineraries.
- Immersing in culture, not country-counting or checking boxes. Whether exploring a bustling city or a quiet village, we focus on the stories, flavors, and traditions that make each place unique.
- Supporting local economies. We prioritize locally owned stays, small businesses, artisans, and experiences so your visit contributes positively to the communities you explore.
- Choosing mindful dining and experiences. We seek local and organic foods, and authentic cultural activities that honor a place’s traditions.
- Preparing travelers thoughtfully. Through pre-trip guidance, we help you understand local customs, cultural norms, appropriate clothing, respectful photography, and the values behind the traditions you’ll encounter.

Kindred Voyager,
Thank you for your interest in Sojourness! This venture to unite and support women across the globe was born from my own restless desire to constantly be moving and meeting new people from all walks of life (truly a sojourner at heart). I have always found joy and meaning in human connection (especially over food…like a pastry!) which is what led me to pursue hosting international group adventures and walking tours through my hometown of Portland, Maine.
Anywhere I’ve traveled I have found that the most transformative experience happens when you simply start walking. You’ll find grand adventure and cultural connection just by stepping out onto the beaten path - and if you’re brave enough to step off… well, that’s even more magical. To blaze new trails with new friends is what life is all about, and I am so excited to share these moments together. So, come walk with me!
